Whisby Nature Park & Natural World Centre

Whisby Nature Park is a major Local Nature Reserve, famous for its ponds and lakes, with over six miles of footpaths suitable for buggies and mobility scooters. Enjoy a day out including walking trails, bird watching, a Wildlife Adventure Playpark,an Environmental Education Centre,  a local produce café and gift shop, plus exhibitions and children’s activities.

Whisby Nature Park is host to The Natural World Centre, and one of  Lincolnshire  Wildlife Trust’s Environmental Education Centres. The Natural World Centre, which consists of two floors has been designed to ensure access for all. The Centre is set in the heart of the nature park, and houses the Boardwalk Café. The café serves local food that ranges from light refreshments to home cooked meals, all using Lincolnshire produce, and is ideally located in this lakeside setting.

The centre also houses an eco-friendly shop which is stocked with fair trade, recycled and natural products. You can also see two exhibitions during your visit, that are geared up to the centre’s theme of the environment and sustainability. The Natural World Centre is free entry and has won a number of awards, including the environmental Green Apple Award.

The Whisby Environmental Education Centre is purpose built, and managed by the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust and offers a range of  engaging learning experiences. The Centre enjoys stunning views over Thorpe lake, and is an ideal venue for school visits, training courses or small conferences.  The Education Centre offers classrooms and self enclosed grounds incorporating various activity areas, quiet green spaces and a purpose built pond dipping platform. The Centre’s experienced team of  Wildlife Trust Education Officers offer a wide range of environmental education opportunities for schools, family activities and specialist training days,  catering for all ages. Activities range from pond dipping,  mini-beast hunts, Bird watching, Natural art, orienteering, ecology workshops to Team building Bush craft and practical conservation days.

 

Whisby Nature Park is also home to the award winning Little Darters play area.  The play area boasts a unique mix of tunnels, towers and sand and water play.  You can enjoy a fresh cup of coffee and other light refreshments at the outdoor seating area of the cafe, while watching your little ones enjoy some of the most inventive play equipment around. Little Darters offers a great experience for all the family!

Entry is free.

There are baby changing facilities in all toilets and breast feeding mothers are welcome.
