Sailing

Hykeham sailing Club, which is affiliated to the RYA,  is located to the south west of Lincoln and occupies the 180 acre Apex Lake affording great sailing to both Casual & Racing Dinghy sailors and Windsurfers. The Club was formed in 1985 by the amalgamation of two clubs which had both occupied the water since the early 1960’s but from separate premises.

Our club facilities include a modern clubhouse erected October 2007 which has a substantial decked area with seating, mowed lawns and a water frontage with launching facilities. A kitchen & bar operates on race days, normally Sundays and Wednesday evenings, and serves hot & cold drinks, food & snacks. Male and Female changing rooms have toilets & showers and the clubhouse has plenty of space and seating for ‘wet’ sailors to rest and a ‘dry’ lounge for spectators and social events.

We have a full programme for racing, trainee and casual sailing with something for all from the keenest racer to families and youngsters. The club offers ‘Taster Days’ for the general public to come and have a go whilst anyone interested can visit the club on sailing days. Although most club sailors have their own boats the Club has a small fleet of training dinghies that are also available for hire to members.

Affiliate members of the Club are the Lincoln District Sailing Association and Hykeham Sailability. The LDSA is a RYA recognized sail training establishment which as well as providing schools and youth sailing supports the Club with RYA adult training. Hykeham Sailability is a RYA registered group that provides sailing for members with any disability.

The road to the club is situated on the left hand side of the Fox & Hounds Pub on Newark Road, North Hykeham. Look for the sign marked ’Sailing Club’. Please note the gates at the top of the track are usually locked for security outside Weekends & Wednesday evenings when events and racing are taking place.
